Conference Talks
Conferences have become a special place for me.
I could never afford to go and many companies don’t prioritize these types of growth opportunities because of the high cost associated with most events.
Being able to speak at conference has let me share my take on various topics in the tech industry. I’m a believer that most issues come from the human side of tech, even when it’s coming from AI, so I tend to talk a lot about processes, system thinking, and teamwork.

Becoming the Hero of the Sprint
Most teams don’t fail because they lack skill. They fail because they’re not playing the same game. This session uses lessons from Dungeons & Dragons to show how devOps teams can align strategy, collaboration, and execution to turn every sprint into a shared quest for quality.

Becoming the Hero of the Sprint
What do coding, testing, and Dungeons and Dragons all have in common? Spoiler alert: strategy. We all know the heavy demands placed on software teams today to code, test, and be a human in this era of remote work. As an automation developer and avid D&D player, I believe that developers and QA can learn a helpful thing or three from my favorite roleplaying game.
In our interactive session, I will share 3 pragmatic strategies for how you can learn more about the value of testing in the development cycle, better partner with your QA teams, and spend more time doing what you love. In addition, we will use an evidence-based approach to explore how to continue to improve your collaborative and problem-solving skills, while transforming you into the hero for QA. Grab your dice and roll for initiative, as we level up on a Dungeons and Dragons style adventure in DevOps. Together.
Battle for API
If your testing strategy stops at the UI, you’re only seeing half the dragon. This talk reframes API testing as the real center of quality—and uses a D&D-style adventure to show how to build stronger coverage, fewer blame loops, and more resilient systems.

Battle for API
Does the extent of your test automation practice start and end with UI testing? As QA leaders, if you only focus on UI automation, it might bring some peace of mind, but you’re missing out on everything under the surface of your products.
As an avid fan of API testing and Dungeons & Dragons (D&D), I will take attendees on a quest to gain new insights into attacking test plans and practical solutions to avoid the front-end/back-end blame game. In addition, we will explore how leveraging D&D concepts can help you overcome your own API implementation roadblocks. Everyone deserves a holistic testing strategy that meets your business logic, while increasing coverage for all, and that includes those stuck only testing the UI.
When you set out to slay the dragon it’s a good idea to use more than one approach, and the same is true for testing your products. So grab those dice and join the battle for API testing.
The Best Laid Plans
Even the best sprint plan can fall apart the moment reality rolls initiative. This session explores how to spot early warning signs of delivery risk and recover quickly when projects go off track, without losing team momentum or morale.

The Best Laid Plans
We gathered our party, planned out the battle, and faced down the dragon… mostly. The dice can roll badly, you might not be as prepared as you could be, or sometimes things just don’t work out like we thought. Even the best-laid plans can get the best of us.
If you’ve ever had a sprint or project do a number on your team, how can you brush it off and keep moving forward? As a D&D fan and automation developer, the tragedy of disaster is no stranger. In this last session of the D&D series, we’ll talk about common warning signs of impending doom in your SDLC and how to recover your momentum when your adventuring party takes a little too much damage. When your project laughs at your plans like the evil villain at the end of the campaign, it’s time to outmaneuver with all the information (and spell slots) you can. Gather up those dice for one more (stand-alone) adventure in the SDLC.
Beyond Drag and Drop
Automation used to be for those with advanced coding skills, but we’ll explore how modern tools allow citizen developers to become confident solution makers and reach new technical depth.

Beyond Drag and Drop
Explore how automation modern tools enable all developers to create powerful solutions and expand their technical capabilities without needing deep programming knowledge.
Shadow Work
The biggest threats to software quality often aren’t in your test suite—they’re in the invisible work underneath it. This talk explores how hidden assumptions, unspoken processes, and “shadows” shape outcomes, and how to surface root causes that actually move the needle.

Shadow Work
What do coding, testing, and Dungeons and Dragons all have in common? Spoiler alert: strategy. We all know the heavy demands placed on software teams today to code, test, and be a human in this era of remote work. As an automation developer and avid D&D player, I believe that developers and QA can learn a helpful thing or three from my favorite roleplaying game.
In psychology, your shadow-self is the repressed and rejected parts that we like to keep hidden despite it being a big part of who we are.
In the realm of software testing, achieving quality and reliability often hinges on uncovering the underlying factors that can derail us from those goals. It’s not about the tests, but understanding the requirements, business, and users. This presentation explores the concept of shadow work—those unseen efforts and mental processes that shape our development practices. By examining the interplay between shadow work and root cause analysis, we can uncover hidden obstacles and biases that impede our quality objectives. Attendees will learn practical strategies to identify and address shadow work, ultimately enhancing their testing processes and outcomes. This session aims to equip software testers with insights that not only improve their immediate work but also foster a deeper understanding of the systemic issues that impact software quality.
